Ultrasonic oscillatory two-phase flow in microchannels

Experimental and numerical investigations are performed to provide an assessment of the transport behavior ultrasonic oscillatory two-phase flow in a microchannel. The work is inspired by observed innovative fabric drying device using piezoelectric bimorph transducer with microchannels, where water-air transported harmonically oscillating microchannels. exhibits highly unsteady as water air interact each other during vibration cycles, making it significantly different from well-studied steady computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling realized combing turbulence Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) k-${\omega}$ model phase-field method resolve flow. results qualitatively validated experiment. Through parametric studies, we specifically examined effects conditions (i.e., frequency amplitude), microchannel taper angle, wall surface contact angle wettability) on rate through will advance potential applications or general flows may be present.
